Grand Theft Auto VI has cemented itself as one of the most anticipated games of all time and with fans expecting a fall 2025 release, one insider may have some unfortunate news.
It has been over 10 years since Rockstar Games released the latest Grand Theft Auto entry, Grand Theft Auto V, and since then, fans have been eagerly anticipating the next crime-filled story.

Although the studio has since released Red Dead Redemption 2 and multiple updates for Grand Theft Auto Online, Grand Theft Auto VI has been a long time coming so it is no wonder that fans were overjoyed to learn it was scheduled for a fall 2025 release.
With just one official trailer, which was released in December 2023, there is a lot we don’t know about the next Grand Theft Auto entry.
As for what is confirmed, it will take us back to Vice City and feature a Bonnie and Clyde-esque story with new protagonists, Jason and Lucia.
Rockstar has remained tight lipped throughout 2024 but as far as we know, we will be able to dive into GTA VI in less than a year.
Or will we?
According to a recent report by Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, GTA VI will reportedly have an “expansive” online mode, with the journalist revealing that many other publishers in the industry are working around its release in order to not have their own game buried under the weight of a new GTA entry.
However, during an appearance on Kinda Funny Games Daily, Schreier followed this up by claiming that he would be “shocked” if GTA VI actually came out during 2025.
According to him, Rockstar’s history of delays is the main reason why the game has not been released already and despite the studio being on track, he reminded listeners that a lot can happen in a year and Rockstar is not in any rush.
Of course, this is merely speculation and as far as we know, Grand Theft Auto VI is still scheduled for a fall 2025 release.
