Grand Theft Auto fans have been worrying about the price of the GTA VI for some months, believing it could very well be the first video game to charge $100 for the standard edition.
It was speculated some time ago that GTA VI would be priced at $100, and while that’s a big scary number, it’s simply a guess.
However, recent news from Microsoft will have fans of the GTA franchise constantly guessing, as the publisher backed down on their price point of $80 for The Outer Worlds 2.
This has caused them to refund players who pre-ordered the game, urging them to pre-order again, but at the lower price of $70.

One player, over on Reddit, has commented, “So, the lesson is don't f**king pre-order GTA 6, or they'll be charging 100 USD for it.”
There are a couple of ways of looking at this situation; either you’re all for publishers increasing prices to reflect the work put into the game, or you’re against it because these games are worth billions of dollars, and they could pay shareholders less.
Will GTA VI be $100? Who knows, but if Rockstar Games and parent company Take-Two believe they can charge that, then they likely will.
What this Redditor says should urge those considering pre-ordering to hold fire for now.

Microsoft saw the backlash from fans and quickly pivoted on the price, and it could have been them responding to low pre-orders due to cost.
What this Reddit sentiment essentially means is, ‘don’t pre-order the game, because the millions of people who do will show Rockstar Games and Take-Two that they can charge what they want.’
It’s supply and demand, but in reverse, fans demand the game by pre-ordering in waves of millions, and companies see future profits skyrocket.
Or, we’re all worried for nothing and GTA VI will be $60-70 anyway.
