GTA 6 pre-order price leaves fans furious: 'stop saying you'll buy'

Is it just too much to ask?

Rockstar and Take-Two may not have officially revealed the price tag for Grand Theft Auto VI but with rumours that it could cost as much as $100, some fans are less than happy.

There are just a few months to go until the fall 2025 window rolls around and Grand Theft Auto VI is set to be released.

Check out the official Grand Theft Auto VI trailer below!

As the first Grand Theft Auto title in over a decade, it is safe to say that millions of fans are eager to return to the beloved Rockstar series but it could be this very reason that Take-Two could market the game at an extortionate price.

Although we don’t yet know how much GTA VI will cost, or whether this will include early access editions or collector’s editions etc, recent rumours suggest that the standard game could cost as much as $100.

With most AAA games marketing at around $70 in present day, it is clear that Rockstar can take advantage of the highly-anticipated game.

However, for one fan, they are begging others to not be so accepting of the high price tag and took to r/GTA6 to share their thoughts.

“You guys gotta stop saying you'll buy GTA VI at any price, otherwise that $100 bulls*it will really come to be!

Take-Two for sure is aware of this nonsense and probably considering this price tag!”

The news comes after Dexerto reported that a Swiss retailer has listed GTA VI pre-orders at 99 Swiss francs ($112USD).

What followed was almost 1000 comments consisting of fellow player’s thoughts on the possibility of paying $100.

User kingofhearts67 wrote, “If you just use common sense if they priced it at the standard 70$ the amount of money they’d lose versus at 100 when you account for the people who’d be put off by that price hike would be negligible or even less.

It’s also bad PR all around and even before they confirmed anything some people already pushed back on the internet for increasing the price.”

Another user added, “$100 for GTA VI isn't an issue by itself imo. It feels worth it.

But what it WILL do is set a precedent, and other studios will follow suit and bump up their unpolished buggy game launches to $100.”

It remains to be seen what the official price for GTA VI will be but for now, we can get saving just in case.
