Fans of the Grand Theft Auto series may have spotted a new Wanted system in the first GTA VI trailer and could be the overhaul we’ve been waiting for.

When Rockstar Games released the first and incredibly highly anticipated trailer for GTA VI, it was all the video game community wanted to talk about for the following days. As such, we may have assumed that we’d seen all the details that the trailer was hiding in plain sight.

Check out the GTA VI trailer below!

However, one eagle-eyed Reddit user may have spotted another detail some of us missed and it might very well be the Wanted system overhaul that could quite literally, change the game for the series.

The Wanted system in the Grand Theft Auto series is a simple but effective concept. You break the law and you get a single wanted star for a minor crime.

The more severe the crime or the frequency in which you break the law in Grand Theft Auto could, can earn you up to five Wanted stars. The higher the stars, the more relentless the police will pursue you and they will eventually call in the services of the military to bring you down.

Yet, judging by the first GTA VI trailer, things are going to change and perhaps for the better.

“I just realised that this part of the trailer is showing off the new Wanted system,” said clevererest_username. “The cops must not have a description of the suspect, so they just drive by Jason and Lucia who are fleeing the scene of the crime the cops are headed to.”

What’s more, fellow members on the thread were keen to add further details resulting from those infamous gameplay leaks taken from an early build of GTA VI.

“In one of the leaks when Jason and Lucia are robbing the diner, as they are about to leave you can see a little message pop up saying that the cops have a full description of the vehicle they used to get away,” replied OrganizationNo203. “So, there could very well be a new element to the Wanted system.”

“It’s mentioned in the GTA VI document compiled using all the leaks,” says Upbeat-Original-7137. “Using masks will also help conceal your identity.”#

Of course, it remains to be seen whether this will be the new Wanted system in GTA VI, but if so, I would suspect it would be a welcomed change by fans. Hopefully, we’ll learn more in the coming months, perhaps when Rockstar Games drops the second trailer.

At the time of writing, Grand Theft Auto VI is set to be released late this year on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The PC version hasn't been revealed, yet.
