GTA VI could have some competition on its hands hen MindsEye releases later this year, made by one of the creators of the Grand Theft Auto series.

I exaggerate a little bit, as GTA VI is clearly going to reign victorious by the end of the year with all the awards, all the sales revenue and all the 10/10 reviews, but that doesn’t mean we can ignore some of the other stellar games coming out this year.

Games like MindsEye, which looks like the perfect blend of Grand Theft Auto and Cyberpunk 2077

Set in a distant future much like Cyberpunk 2077, MindsEye will tell a tale of espionage and lies along with giving players plenty of opportunity for mayhem.

It comes from ex-Rockstar developer Leslie Benzies, which has already cemented it as a must-buy for some people.

The gameplay trailer was shown off during PlayStation’s State Of Play showcase the other day and viewers have high hopes it’ll be a banger.

“It kind of reminded me of those solid 6/10 or 7/10 games on PS3. They weren't great, but they were fun” said one viewer on a Reddit thread about the game.

“Has the vibe of a Cyberpunk, GTA or if Crackdown mixed with GTA V. It looks cool.” added another.

Another only needed to hear about Benzies’ involvement, saying “developed and directed by Leslie Benzies (Rockstar OG) and his new company, published by IO Interactive, sign me tf up.”

MindsEye looks like a wild ride, and that trailer definitely got us interested in seeing the full story, let’s hope it’s a banger.

The game will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X sometime in the future, hopefully this year but at the time of writing a release date hasn’t been confirmed.
