It was never really in doubt, but it’s nice to see that GTA VI hasn’t lost the franchise’s signature humour. The trailer is rife with satire.

Yes, you heard me. The trailer is out right now. It was due to drop today but those pesky leakers stole Rockstar’s thunder once again. A grainy version of the trailer was illegally posted to Twitter, somewhat forcing Rockstar into releasing the real thing early. It’s a shame that the reveal didn’t go to plan, but that hasn’t subdued the response. Fans are heaping praise on the game for its stellar graphics. Unfortunately, GTA VI isn’t set to release until 2025 but hey, we’ve made it this far. At least we’ve now got a brand new trailer to dissect, which is exactly what fans are doing.

Take a look at the new GTA VI trailer below.

Reddit user bootl3gger kicked off just one of many thousands of GTA VI discussions across the internet right now, writing, “The satire still seems to be spot on in the new GTA.” The accompanying image featured a pharmaceutical advertisement which read, “It cures emotions.” The post has already garnered 3.4K upvotes as other fans gathered to share their impressions of the trailer.

“As a Florida native, they have really nailed the aesthetic this time around,” read one comment, while another user added, “I was worried that the morbid and dark satire wouldn’t be the same in VI but I'm glad I was completely wrong.”

In terms of what the GTA VI trailer reveals, clearly we have Jason and Lucia confirmed as our dual leads. The setting is Vice City, as suspected, and the game takes place during the present day. What is interesting is that Lucia is wearing an ankle monitor in the poster which could affect our early gameplay. Will we be limited in where we can travel? There’s still so much for us to discover. The journey is just beginning.
