It seems that the FIFA World Cup that kicked off this week could be to blame for the latest GTA VI delay, but fear not because it’s not all doom and gloom.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup takes place across three nations for the first time in the illustrious competition's history. Typically, at most, two nations will host a FIFA World Cup. In 2026, those three nations are the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
However, as many of us look forward to seeing our nation pick up the FIFA World Cup Trophy, gamers, specifically fans of Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto series, may find the next few weeks to be a major annoyance. Apparently, our love of the beautiful game may have caused the latest GTA VI delay.
As shared by Redditor Don_Rawaz, a Twitter user and GTA content creator, Game Roll responded to a tweet from Tez2 (a somewhat reliable informant), telling followers not to expect the third GTA VI trailer and pre-orders to go live until after the FIFA World Cup has concluded.
What’s more, after the tournament, this is when we might expect to see the last major content update for this iteration of GTA Online. It’s also believed that the last GTA Online content update could tease GTA VI, similar to what Rockstar Games did before the launch of Red Dead Redemption 2.
“At this point, I'm not even expecting anything until 19 November,” replied a sarcastic pologto, mentioning the current GTA VI release date.

“I really don't wanna be that guy, but man, we're about five months away, how are we still pretending to believe this is coming in November if we get to four months with absolute silence? Any person who doesn't have a horse in this would call you crazy,” exclaimed Nickbon94.
“How does he know the DLC will be released on 14 July?” asked Roox4, to which Particular_Hand2877 replied, “He's a data miner, which is the only thing Tez2 is reliable for. Anything else, don't even bother.”
Of course, we should take all unconfirmed rumours with a pinch of salt until proven otherwise, but we’ll let you know as soon as we hear any new information regarding the third GTA VI trailer. I suppose, at least this rumour doesn’t refer to any delay for the actual GTA VI. Well, at least for now.
Grand Theft Auto VI is currently scheduled to be released on 19 November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The PC port hasn't been announced yet.
