We live in an age where remasters and remakes are all the rage, and fans of Rockstar Games are eager to see the studio return to one of their cult classics to revitalise the experience.
It has been 20 years since Rockstar Games made The Warriors, based on the film of the same name, creating a brawling beat-em-up that instantly became a hit with fans of the film, and those new to it.
Of course, if you try to play the game today, it’s one of the harder to find titles, and some would say it doesn’t hold up that well for modern audiences.
Over on Twitter, many fans are in agreement that the studio should revisit the game for a remake, or a remaster.

“I loved this game so much! Since I was a kid! I hope Rockstar Studios makes a remake or sequel,” said one user.
The Warriors was a departure for Rockstar Games, setting their sights on a partnership, rather than an in-house idea.
Despite the success of the game, nothing more came of it, which is mostly due to the vast success of Rockstar Games’ output, with Grand Theft Auto and the Red Dead Redemption franchise.
It’s hard to imagine a world in which the studio downs tools after GTA VI and begins remastering this classic, even though the want is there for most.

Still, it’s good to know that there are those who loved the game the first time around, with one fan noting, “The Warriors is a real gem for me — still one of my all-time favourites to this day.”
Perhaps one issue with revisiting would be the minefield of licensing laws, but that doesn’t stop fans from posting messages of support, like this from another Twitter user, “Amazing game, we need a spiritual sequel, or remaster, or remake!”
