The upcoming launch of GTA VI might be a daunting prospect for any other game set to release in its window, but there is one publisher that’s not running scared.
To say that the launch of the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series poses some threat to a successful launch of any other game would be somewhat of an understatement, because GTA VI will no doubt consume the video game industry for months on end. Simply put, any game that launches on the same day or around its launch stands a good chance of being overshadowed.
So, it makes sense for rival publishers and developers to shift the launch of their new game in the hope that it won't be eclipsed by Rockstar Games and, in the process, hopefully, maximise sales. However, one publisher that refuses to budge is the indie publisher, Devolver Digital.
Devolver Digital is perhaps best known for publishing titles such as Hotline Miami, Cult of the Lamb, Inscryption, Enter the Gungeon, and many more. However, not only is Devolver Digital not budging from launching its new game in the same month as GTA VI, but it appears to have moved its previous launch date to compete directly.
That being said, in a somewhat unusual move, it appears that no one knows what game Devolver Digital will release in November 2026; we just know that there will be one. As brought to our attention by the Twitter account ‘GTA 6 Countdown’, the mystery game was originally going to be released on the last GTA VI launch date of 26 May 2026, before following the Rockstar Games title to November.
Devolver Digital is currently the only publisher willing to release a game in the same month as GTA 6, let alone on the same day.

They’re essentially challenging Rockstar, as they originally planned a May 26 release before moving it to November 19 following the GTA 6 delay. pic.twitter.com/ZFtSMdW6Zb
“They'll have a cool story to tell for the rest of their lives: We challenged GTA VI,” replied Vice Vault.

“The rest of the industry evacuated for an entire month, and Devolver pulled up like, ‘Nah, we're good’. Genuinely the most chaotic flex in gaming. Everyone else said yes, sir, to one date,” said Viraltbf.
The short answer to that question is no, but Devolver Digital will be aware that it can’t compete with Rockstar Games. Very few can. Yet, while this may seem like a very bold move (and it is), from a marketing perspective, it’s genius, because we and social media are talking about this game, that no one knows what it is.
Assuming that it doesn't suffer any further delay, Grand Theft Auto VI is currently scheduled to be released on 19 November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The inevitable PC port hasn't been announced yet.
