Despite its exact size not yet being confirmed by Rockstar, we can pretty much assume that GTA VI will feature the studio’s biggest open-world yet.

In fact, a recent comment from Rockstar’s parent company Take-Two Interactive adds even more legitimacy to this claim.

Check out the second official trailer for GTA VI below!

If you have been a fan of Rockstar games since you were young, you will know that as the years have gone on, its titles have become more and more ambitious when it comes to sheer scale.

From Red Dead Redemption to Red Dead Redemption 2 and Grand Theft Auto III to Grand Theft Auto V, each new title has been bigger and better and it seems as though this pattern is set to continue for Grand Theft Auto VI.

Set to launch on 26 May 2026, GTA VI is Rockstar’s biggest project yet and according to a comment made following Take-Two’s most recent earning’s call, the next Grand Theft Auto entry has “no limitations”.

“The ambition and complexity of Grand Theft Auto VI is greater than any previous Rockstar title, and the team is poised to release another astonishing entertainment experience that will exceed players’ expectations,” the announcement read.

Not only that but Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick spoke to IGN about the recent delay which saw the game pushed back from an original fall 2025 release.

He revealed that as GTA VI got closer to its original release date, it “became clear... the most important thing to do is to support your teams in their search for perfection".

Now we know that GTA VI will be “greater than any previous Rockstar title”, we finally have confirmation that the map, which is based on real-life Miami and surrounding areas, will be even larger than Red Dead Redemption 2 when it comes to scale.

This is an impressive feat indeed and definitely shows us why Rockstar had to delay the ambitious project.

“As we get closer to completion of a title that’s seeking perfection, the needs or lack thereof, for continued polish become clear,” the full quote by Zelnick reads.

“In this case, there was an opportunity with a small amount of incremental time, we thought, to make sure Rockstar Games achieves its creative vision with no limitations. And I supported that approach of course.”
