GTA 5 Star Teases GTA 6 Return of Familiar Character

GTA 5 star Jay Klaitz has spoken about the possible return of a familiar character in GTA 6, and fans are divided on what it could mean.

Klaitz played Lester Crest in GTA 5 and several of its multiplayer missions in GTA Online, but it seemed as though the character was intended to be a “one and done” affair.

Since it appears the character may have retired following the Diamond Casino heist, it leaves the possibility of his appearance in GTA 6 up in the air. However, there’s always the possibility of him making a surprise return.

This was seemingly explored by Klaitz himself in an interview with The Escapist. When asked about Lester’s whereabouts in GTA 6, Klaitz said the following.

“You never know, man. Maybe GTA VI comes out and it’s a big smash, and I’m sure it’ll be a big smash, and then maybe there’s more downloadable content where they bring back old Lester.

“Who the hell knows? I mean, I don’t see why not. I’ll put it that way. I mean, I don’t think there’s been a ton of overlap from one to the other, character-wise has there? You never know, man. You never know.”

Yeah, of course any actor would jump at the chance to reprise their role in what will be one of the biggest game releases of all time. That doesn’t come as much of a surprise to any of us.

Should Lester return in GTA 6?

However, it’s got fans within the GTA community discussing how Lester could return to the series. It seems that some are divided on how he should appear, if he does.

“I like Lester as a character,” reads one comment on the GTA 6 Reddit page. “Do I think he'll come back? Probably not. Do I hope he comes back? Only as long as he stops taking a cut of our heist money when he was already rolling in dough from the UD job long before partnering with our Online characters.”

“Lester and Lamar are pretty much the only characters from 5 that I see coming back,” reads another comment in the same thread.

“I think GTA V had a lot of success with crossover characters between games,” another reads. “Rockstar especially did a lot of it with later GTAO content. I am certain they will weave in a ton of IV and V characters into the single player story. They have kept relationships with the voice actors so that is a good sign their characters could come back.”
