GTA 5 free download adds Red Dead Redemption-inspired DLC

Yee haw

GTA VI may be right around the corner (assuming it's a really big corner that takes a long time to get around), but we've still got plenty to enjoy from GTA V.

Specifically GTA V's popular Online mode continues to be showered with updates and new content, presumably while Red Dead Redemption 2 fans watch from outside with a tear in their eye.

Ironically, the latest update for GTA Online actually has more new Red Dead-inspired content in it than anything Rockstar Games has actually put in Red Dead Online over the last year or so.

Available now, the new free update for GTA Online comes with all the usual bonuses and opportunities to net exclusive items. That's all well and good, but perhaps what's most exciting to me is the inclusion of a bunch of player-created modes, which Rockstar has kindly highlighted for us. The star of these is definitely a Western-style shooter which should scratch any itch Red Dead fans have.

First up there's Dune Warz 4 by OG-Simpson, a "Last Team Standing is a game of Dune versus Dune set on a high-altitude playing area with holes and jumps in the middle. Use gravity and your vehicle’s weight to shunt foes off-platform and send them to their demise."

Then we have ‘Flens’ Mafia Rugby by OldFlens, a blend of Rugby and King Of The Hill in which players use knuckle dusters to batter one another.

If that's not to your liking, [CMJ] Runners VS Hellfire by Camaji is a high-speed obstacle course that you have to endure on foot. Sounds like a good time.

Hang Time II by Ghost1982w encourages players to get "huge stretches of air time from jumping off ramps at high speeds on a straightaway Stunt Race track."

Then we have Straightalator Dunes by Shfishp, in which you're asked to "slam the gas pedal and use slipstream and boosts to get your MTL Dune into prime position in this face-to-face Stunt Race."

Stunt over the Sea by MainValentino is a new stunt race packed with optional - and deadly - shortcuts designed to shave seconds off your time.

Finally, Western by VoltycQc is a Red Dead Redemption-style Team Deathmatch that "recreates the suspense and stakes of a classic Western shoot ‘em up, starting with a duel and devolving into an intense shoot-out with limited places to take cover from incoming fire."

You can log in and check all of these game modes out now, so be sure to get stuck in.
