Just a few days ago, PlayStation Plus announced its August line-up and props to PlayStation because they did not disappoint. In case you missed it, all PS Plus subscribers can get their hands on Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2, Yakuza: Like A Dragon, and Little Nightmares.

As if that wasn’t enough, Extra and Premium tier subscribers will also soon get access to a bunch of Yakuza games. So many games, so little time, yet today I bring you even more freebies because Amazon Prime have announced their free August titles - and it includes one of the greatest strategy games of all time.

In case you missed it, check out the trailer for Prime’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power below.

Subscribers to Amazon Prime will soon be able to get their hands on StarCraft: Remastered. This incredible strategy title was released by Blizzard Entertainment back in 2017 and essentially sees three warring alien species fighting for dominance. The game is a remaster of the 1998 classic and is largely considered to be one of the most important video games of all time thanks to its influence on the strategy genre.

If metroidvania titles are more your thing, look no further than freebie Recompile. Phigames’ 2021 action-adventure offers a fun mix of platforming and puzzles. Speaking of platformers, ScourgeBringer is also up for grabs. This roguelite was released by Flying Oak Games in 2020. Next up in the freebie grab-bag, we have Beasts of Maravilla Island, a 2021 photography adventure created by Banana Bird Studios, and Family Mysteries: Poisonous Promises, Brave Giant’s 2020 police procedural-style mystery.

We’re not done yet! The final free title this month is Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders made by none other than Lucasfilm Games. This 1988 gem is a classic graphic adventure game. All in all, I’d call this a good month. There’s a wide variety of indie titles, plus a classic that marked a turning point in gaming history. What more could you want? The six titles will be available to claim starting 1 August.
