Everyone stay calm, it’s happening. The long-awaited remaster of GoldenEye 007 is finally arriving on modern consoles, to which I’m sure we can all say ‘it’s about time’.

This classic FPS title was a must-have for any N64 owner back in the day, and so when it was announced last year that it’d not only be arriving on the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack service, but also in a souped-up, remastered form on Xbox Game Pass, fans went wild. Over 25 years from its initial release, the game will be playable in 4K resolution (with an improved frame rate), complete with achievements and split-screen co-op play.

Take a look at the latest trailer for GoldenEye 007’s re-release below.

Since the announcement last September, we’ve not really had any idea when the title was going to be re-released. However, earlier this month, one leaker claimed that it would be arriving by the end of January. Lo and behold, this turned out to be completely correct - Rare has now confirmed that the game will be arriving on both Game Pass and the Switch Online service on 27 January. Yes, you read that right - that's in just two days' time.

“Mark your calendars: GoldenEye 007 is set to launch on Xbox Game Pass on 27 January! The countdown begins now - only two days until you get to experience Dam with an Xbox controller for the first time,” the studio tweeted.

If you’re not currently subscribed to Game Pass for whatever reason, now is definitely the time to fix that. For Switch owners, it’s worth noting that the game will only be available to those with the Online Expansion Pack, AKA the more expensive version of the service. Those paying for the standard online package might want to think about upgrading if they want to play this.
