GameStop Workers Label 'Trade Anything' Scheme a Mess, Grab the Popcorn

This Is Not Going to End Well

In a bizarre turn of events, 6 December will see GameStop host its Trade Anything Day which will see their rules on customer trade-ins become quite lax to say the least.

Known for allowing customers to bring in select equipment and items in exchange for money in return, GameStop - which is currently taking on Pokemon scalpers - has revealed that it will be hosting its Trade Anything Day on 6 December which will allow said customers to bring in, well, anything to be traded.

In exchange, customers will receive $5 store credit from the video game retailer. And we can only imagine some of the items which will be brought to its poor sales assistants.

It is clear that this event will bring in the customers and so on the PR-front, it is pretty genius. On every other front, including the loss of common sense and even safety concerns, it is pretty bad.

The Trade Anything Day notice was recently shared over on r/GameStop and lists some pretty obvious concerns.

Customers cannot bring in hazardous chemicals or weapons and although both alive and dead animals will not be accepted, taxidermy will be.

Some other rules are a bit more confusing such as no tablets, computer peripherals, or specific types of VR headsets and flat-panel displays allowed.

The problem here is that the rules are listed in a pretty lengthy document and expecting 99% of the general public to read the small print is asking quite too much.

"They're going to allow the dregs of humanity to come in and make our lives a living f**king hell for $5 in store credit?" one GameStop worker wrote in the subreddit thread.

Employees are not happy

"Absolutely not ... if I'm working that day, I ain't entertaining anyone who comes in with that s**t. Fire me. Don't care."

That especially makes sense as, according to the original poster on Reddit, the GameStop notice did not exclude “humans, human parts, human remains or NSFW items”.

“You can trade your grandma’s ashes into GameStop for $5!,” they joked.

For user YankeeMoose, however, it is not worth the effort.

“So basically, I can only bring in 1 singular item, and get 5$ credit for it.

Not even worth putting on pants, much less wasting gas.”

There is not long to go until GameStop hosts its ‘Trade Anything Day’ and we can only imagine the chaos that will be unleashed as a result.

Hopefully its workers stay safe during this bizarre event.
