You Can Now Become A Pokémon With This Metapod Cocoon

I mean, I want one.

Thanks to science and the ingenuity of a number of very tired Pokémon fans (I imagine), you can actually climb into a Metapod cocoon and become one with the iconic bug.

Available at Premium Bandai, they're calling it the 絶対に出たくない (zettai ni detakunai or "I don't want to go out") Metapod. An excellent name. It's a metre and a half in length and almost a metre in height, ensuring it's roomy yet cosy for those moments where you simply do not want to do anything but be enveloped in a comforting darkness. You know the feeling. The accompanying photos of the cocoon in action (so to speak) show a person dressed in business attire with the Metapod stationed nearby.

They clamber down from their desk and zip themselves into the cocoon, evidently with no time to delay for taking off their jacket or tie. Whatever email they've just seen has dire consequences, I'm sure, such as addressing a board member by the wrong name or forgetting to change the subject to something less sweary before clicking "send." Ensconced in the Metapod, they gaze glassily outwards, the softness of the material and the feeling of oblivion seeping into their psyche. The next photo is of the person smiling at themselves in the mirror. How they moved to the mirror from the desk is not known.

Other models show how versatile the cocoon is for any eventuality. Inside the cocoon, one can lie face down for a spicy contrast between the material and the cold hard floor. Alternatively, the model shows how one can rest their legs against a wall, with their back flat on the floor, and stare at the ceiling. This particular position will stretch out the spine after hours of slumped slouching, and will raise the feet above the head, which will help for feelings of nausea.

Currently, the cocoon is going to be only released in Japan, priced at 35,000 yen (or $335 ish). The reception to the snuggly invention has been nothing short of ecstatic, so here's hoping that a worldwide release is in the works.
