CD Projekt RED really dropped a bombshell on us. Not only did it inform us all that a new Witcher game is in the works, but that it most probably won't be called The Witcher 4.
We should have really seen this twist coming. Without spoilers, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and the accompanying DLC, tie a decently neat bow on our witcher's story, in which we see Geralt settle down and steer away from his witchery ways. With the reveal that the teaser is distinctly not The Witcher 4, fans have got to thinking about just what this new release is destined to be.
With so little known about the new game, we're throwing our hat in the ring and offering our best guess and the reasons why in the video below.
So that's it, we're all in on our girl. With her witcher training, teleportation and swordsmanship skills, she would be the perfect protagonist to take over in Geralt's stead. In the novels, she also has a number of magical powers which would help change up the playstyle from CD Projekt RED's best received title. Hopping through multiple realities at the drop of a hat, anyone?
Ciri plays a much bigger part in the Netflix adaptation than she ever has before, so it's more than possible that the latest game could follow the same route. While there wasn't too much of it, you took on battles as Ciri sporadically throughout The Witcher 3 and so there is already a basis for combat from which the studio could build upon, while also keeping familiar parts of the story.
CD Projekt RED also announced that the new game, whatever it turns out to be, is in the very early development stages of a "tech partnership" with the developers of the Unreal Engine 5, Epic Games. Epic is best known for creating and distributing battle royale game Fortnite and while reportedly the company won't be involved in development, CD Projekt has also proudly announced that the game will not be exclusive to Epic Games Store either.
