Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, the WWE superstar and one of the world's highest-grossing actors, might well run for president of the United States one day.

In an interview with USA Today, he promoted his new sitcom Young Rock, which follows the journey that Johnson took to get where he is today. The Hollywood icon is in fact a member of the Anoa'i family - a legendary clan of Samoan wrestlers, and so his success was written in the stars. However, that isn't to say that his life was without hardship and struggles.

He and his family were evicted from their one-room apartment in his youth, and he was arrested numerous times for fighting, theft, and check fraud before the age of 17. High school football was his opportunity to prove himself as a contender on a state-wide scale, but injuries meant that he had to drop out of the running. Then, he tried his hand (literally) at professional wrestling, and the rest is history.

Seemingly, The Rock is able to crush absolutely anything he puts his mind to, and with a cheery personality and an "everyman" persona, an appearance into the political arena isn't out of the question. He expressed his thoughts about a move to the White House in the interview, and stated plainly that it wouldn't be a choice he would take lightly. "I would consider a presidential run in the future if that's what the people wanted," he replied. "Truly I mean that, and I'm not flippant in any way with my answer. That would be up to the people... So I would wait, and I would listen. I would have my finger on the pulse, my ear to the ground."

This isn't the first time Johnson has considered the opportunity. In 2017, he told GQ that there is "a real possibility" that he would run for president. "A year ago, it started coming up more and more," he said. "There was a real sense of earnestness, which made me go home and think, 'Let me really rethink my answer and make sure I am giving an answer that is truthful and also respectful.' ... The responsibility as president-I [would] take responsibility for everyone. Especially when you disagree with me. If there's a large number of people disagreeing, there might be something I'm not seeing, so let me see it. Let me understand it."

America has had celebrities take a turn in the White House in the past. Ronald Reagan appeared in movies and TV shows in the 1940s and 1950s, and Donald Trump hosted The Apprentice, where contestants competed for a placement at the Trump Organisation. We'll have to sit tight and see whether the events of Young Rock, where Johnson runs for president in 2032, come true.
