New Bethesda Studio Dedicated To Remakes And Remasters Reportedly Opening

A new rumour doing the rounds suggests that Bethesda is opening a studio dedicated to developing remakes and remasters of its impressive back-catalogue of games.

With a number of considerable hits under its belt ranging from Fallout 3 and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion to Quake and DOOM, there's plenty of scope for Bethesda to re-release a number of surefire hits. And apparently, that's exactly what the company aims to do.

Take a look at our virtual tour of Skyrim below!

Take this with a pinch of salt for now, but YouTuber Skullzi claims to have heard from a couple of sources that Bethesda is working on building a new studio just for remakes. They initially believed it was to be called Artefact, but it later transpired this is the name of an upcoming documentary to celebrate 10 years of Skyrim.

In spite of these crossed wires, Skullzi maintains that a new studio for remakes/remasters is on the horizon, and it's just a matter of time before it's officially announced.

Personally, I'd approach this with a healthy degree of skepticism. While Bethesda could certainly scoop up large buckets of money by remastering games like Oblivion and Fallout 3, I'm not entirely sure they need to right now? Between a newfound partnership with Xbox, Starfield, Deathloop, and The Elder Scrolls VI, it feels like there's an awful lot going on already.

A ton of old remasters sure would be nice, but are they necessary at the moment? Probably not. Still, watch this space.
