Model Maker Builds Outstanding 10-Foot Star Destroyer From Star Wars

That’s no moon, but it’s a pretty out of this world effort

From Lionel Messi popping in a worldie from 25 yards to too many shots of tequila, life is full of evidence that it's not always size that counts when leaving a lasting impression. But in this instance, yeah, it's all about how big this thing is.

Stefan Oster is, according to the German craftsman himself, "an experienced scratch-model designer and model builder". And Stefan's gone and made an absolute whopper of a Star Wars model, here. His Star Destroyer is a massive 9.8 feet long from tip to tail. It's no wonder a post of it has blown up on Reddit, really.

The model is so big, indeed, that it couldn't be removed from its place of creation without the windows to the studio being removed. Made from foam, paper, aluminium, polystyrene and "plastic parts from anything else that matches" according to the Reddit poster, CF_Charlie - a friend of Stefan's - this Star Destroyer was made for the Masters Expo taking place in Amsterdam in November 2021.

Stefan took 2,800 hours to complete the model, which has a parts total of around 22,000 individual components. It's an amazing achievement - but one look at the model-maker's official website, Great Space Models, reveals that he's quite the master at this kind of thing. He's also made ships from the Star Trek series, and he can make a ship for you, assuming you have the money.

Writes Stefan on his website: "My passion is constructing tribute models from handcrafted parts, creating works of art that are unlike anything else in the world. Unlike the millions of replicas out there, each part of every model is handcrafted, and then assembled into a committed tribute to the spacecrafts you love - be it from real life or your favorite universe. Anything is possible!"

BRB, just going to empty the savings accounts I don't have to get a properly scaled Unicron from The Transformers: The Movie made. In related Star Wars news, we're expecting a new game to be revealed before the end of 2021, and it turns out our thoughts on Snoke were bang on the money.
