Injustice Creator Wants Zack Snyder To Adapt DC Fighting Game As Justice League Sequel

Hell yeah, sign me up for this.

Ed Boon, co-creator of Mortal Kombat and DC video game series Injustice has had an incredible idea: get Zack Snyder to adapt Injustice: Gods Among Us for the big screen.

I'd be the first to admit that I'm not a massive fan of Snyder's take on the DC universe. It's a little too down and dour for my tastes, but with the recent release of Zack Snyder's Justice League he's certainly proved he at least has a consistent vision for Batman, Superman, and the rest of the team. Anyone who's played Injustice: Gods Among Us or its sequel will already know that they tell a particularly brutal and depressing story - a perfect fit for Snyder's grim take on the heroes of DC.

For those who might not be aware, Injustice: Gods Among Us asks the question that the people of the DC universe have always feared: what if Superman decides he's done being a good guy? The Man Of Steel is tricked by Joker into murdering his wife and unborn baby, completely destroying Metropolis in the process. This is more than enough to drive him over the edge, and he proceeds to murder Batman's arch-nemesis and reinvents himself as a fascistic bastard bent on ruling the world with an iron fist.

Certain heroes, including Wonder Woman, fall in line with this new way of thinking. But Batman and a small cabal of rebels fight back, and things get increasingly ugly. As far as an excuse to get popular heroes to beat the shit out of each other goes, it's a surprisingly deep story, and one I reckon Zack Snyder could actually nail.

While there are currently no plans for a Justice League sequel from Snyder, Boon took to Twitter to praise the director's newly released cut and offered his suggestion for the sequel: Zack Snyder's INJUSTICE.

Snyder recently outlined some of the plans he had put in place for further Justice League movies, although it's highly unlikely we'll ever see them made. Still, with Warner Bros and DC more willing to make films that span multiple universes than Marvel, we definitely couldn't rule out a straight adaptation of Injustice: Gods Among Us happening one day. It's be the perfect opportunity to bring the likes of Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill back to the roles for one last battle royale.
