More Call Of Duty Remasters On The Way, Says Insider

An insider has claimed we'll be getting remastered editions of multiple COD titles, including Modern Warfare and World at War.

You know, I don't think anyone was overly upset at the news that Call of Duty is apparently set to take a break from its yearly releases. Back in February, a report from Bloomberg claimed that the Treyarch-developed game, originally meant to be released in 2023, would be pushed back until 2024, which would make it the first time that the mainline series has taken a year out since 2004.

More development time of course, in theory, means more time for the final release to be something really great, so you'd think that most fans could be patient. Activision doesn't seem to think that this will be the case, though, because apparently they're planning a load of remasters to fill the time between the main titles. People get bored if they're not having stuff thrown at them constantly, I guess.

While you're here, be sure to check out some of the funniest COD: Warzone wins and fails below.

These claims come from COD insider @RalphsValve on Twitter: "Activision are reportedly considering releasing Remastered Call of Duty titles repurposed for newer consoles to fill out the empty space between Premium Call of Duty titles," they wrote. "World at War, Call of Duty 1 & 2 - backwards [compatibility] for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Remastered are currently what's in conversation. Everything else was described by an associate as 'complicated.'"

Not only that, but apparently, the Modern Warfare remaster will be coming to the very last console you'd expect. Well, now I've said that, it's probably obvious: "Addressing the confusion, MWR is supposedly coming to Nintendo Switch, [its] first [introduction] into the Call of Duty franchise for the console," the insider added.

As for the release window for these remasters, no insight was given, but if the plan is to plug the gap between "premium" titles, chances are we'll see them sometime next year, given the supposed delay of Treyarch's upcoming title. If true though, these won't be the only space-filling games to come - the very same insider hinted last month that we'd be getting a Zombies spinoff next year. So, that's potentially a lot of Call of Duty happening. Although @RalphsValve is known for being reliable, as usual with any leaks, do take all this with a generous fistful of salt.
