In order to celebrate the upcoming launch of the Fallout TV show, Amazon Prime’s next free game will let fans of the franchise experience one of the earliest titles in the long-running game series.

Fallout 2 is completely free to keep and play as long as you’re a member of Amazon Prime and it will be available on 7 March. The new show produced by Amazon will debut 12 April and bring the wasteland to the small screen. So far, the set photos and images released have the show looking pretty good and faithful to the latter games by Bethesda.

Fallout will air on Amazon Prime in April

Amazon bought the rights to Fallout back in 2020 and it has taken a few years to see the product of this move finally. Todd Howard, who has served as director on several Fallout games, is an executive producer of the show, so fans can be assured that there were safe hands in the creation process.

The premise of the show will be familiar to players, as we’ll watch a young vault-dweller emerge from a vault into the wasteland of Los Angeles - there are sure to be many callbacks to the games as she explores and meets the citizens of a ruined America.

Celebrating this upcoming show, Amazon is giving away copies of Fallout 2. This game is very different from the Fallout we’ve come to know and love since the Xbox 360 era. While recent games are first-person action adventures, the initial games were isometric RPGs filled with wonderful dialogue and action on a different level. While it may be a unique experience, you’ll find plenty of Fallout tropes like the Brotherhood of Steel and the Ghouls of the wastelands. It’s well worth checking out this release even if you’re simply filling in the history of a well-loved franchise for yourself.
