Although it feels as though The Elder Scrolls 6 may never be released, a new worry has entered the fray which could see many fans unable to play at all.

First announced in 2018 alongside a very-short teaser trailer, The Elder Scrolls VI was confirmed to be on the way by Bethesda.

The sequel to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has reportedly been in development for at least the last six years but with Bethesda recently releasing Starfield, it is perhaps understandable why TES VI has been taking a while.

Being the sixth instalment in a much-loved RPG series means that hopes are high but with no concrete information of a release date from Bethesda, fans are getting worried.

Not only that but with the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X/S already rumoured to be coming to the end of their lifespans, some gamers have begun worrying that The Elder Scrolls VI may be released on a next-gen console.

This conversation kicked off over on r/TESVI recently with one user asking, “will TESVI require a new console?”

“I don’t play a lot of games anymore but I justified my Xbox Series X purchase thinking “eh I will need this to play TESVI.”

Am I going to have to buy ANOTHER console by the time this game comes out? Maybe no one can really answer that but have they confirmed what platforms it will release on?”

We can answer that here but saying that it has not yet been confirmed which consoles The Elder Scrolls VI will be released on.

However, fellow fans expressed their thoughts regardless.

“It’s crazy how we’re about to go two full console generations without a mainline Elder Scrolls game.

F**king incredible actually,” the top comment read.

Another said: “Probably not.

It’ll quite possibly be a 'bridge' game that's on both current gen, and next gen.”

Let us hope that this person is correct, otherwise the long-awaited Elder Scrolls 6 will be unplayable for thousands upon launch.
