Days Gone fans rejoice, we're getting that remaster after all

Time to ride again

A sequel to Days Gone will never happen, or at least that’s what has been said repeatedly for years now.

A remaster, on the other hand, seems to be a floating possibility again with rumours circulating for a second time. And now Steam is pointing to this being true.

Days Gone may be in for the remaster treatment if Steam is pointing in the right direction.

As all eyes begin to turn to The Game Awards, fans are speculating that we’ll be seeing Days Gone up on the stage in the form of a remaster.

Why? Well, on Friday 6 December, some changes were made to the backend of the game over on Steam.

One of these changes was an update called ‘staging’, a term often used before releasing a product to the public.

Another term spotted was “specializedqa” with the ‘QA’ meaning Quality Assurance.

Many are putting these together and assuming we’ll be getting a remaster announcement, possibly with a quick turnaround for release.

If you’re remastering a game, you’re going to want to put it through the QA process again, and then put the game into a staging state before pressing the publish button on a digital store front.

While this may seem a little tenuous, it’s worth looking at Steam currently, where Days Gone is in a deep discount.

That sale ends on 12 December, the same day as The Game Awards.

I don’t know if we’re putting two and two together to get nine, or if we’re actually getting a remaster of a cult classic.

As we’ll all be watching The Game Awards anyway, it’s not worth me telling you to keep your eyes peeled, but if you’re a fan of the game and want a shiny version of it, then keep your fingers crossed.

The last we saw of Days Gone was a lovely cameo in Astro Bot, but otherwise things have been quiet.
