FromSoftware fans waiting for the announcement of Dark Souls IV at least have this upcoming challenging action RPG to look forward to.

At the time of writing, we have no idea if we’re getting Dark Souls IV. I suppose there’s a chance but considering we’ve not had a game in the FromSoftware series since Dark Souls III in 2016, after nearly a decade of waiting, it’s likely that not every fan will be optimistic.

To be fair to FromSoftware, since the launch of Dark Souls III, the popular development studio has been busy with the likes of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, Elden Ring, as well as Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon and more.

Still, it would be nice to get Dark Souls IV one day but thankfully, the soulslike sub-genre is not short of sacrificial offerings such as the upcoming title, developed by Cloud Project Games, The Relic: First Guardian.

As brought to our attention by DSOGaming, The Relic: First Guardian looks to be a quality soulslike game to scratch the Dark Souls IV itch while we potentially wait for its arrival.

“Guardian, gather the pieces of the great relic and seal the void of darkness. The fate of the Arsiltus is now in your hands,” reads the synopsis of The Relic: First Guardian. “In this action RPG, you embark on a heroic adventure to save the world in the dark as the last guardian.”

“This looks like a nice soulslike game,” said Leo-Pez replying to an IGN Fan Fest trailer with jordondraggon1459 adding: “This looks sick, especially as a first attempt from the studio.”

“I love the medieval style soulslike games. What a time for gamers,” gunitgman commented.

“Finally a soulslike game that looks like it's using UE5. All the other games looked like they were made for PS3 and PS4,” claimed CG-no2vv.

The Relic: First Guardian does not have a release date but it is scheduled to launch at some point this year. That’s assuming it suffers no delay.

The Relic: First Guardian will be released on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
