What we know about the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel can be written on the back of a stamp.
We do know that the sequel will take place in Night City as well as a brand-new second city described as “like Chicago gone wrong”. We also know that it has entered its pre-production phase, it will be built using Unreal Engine and was once known only as Project Orion.
However, in recent months, a rumour began to spread that the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel would be known simply as Cyberpunk 2.

This already seemed hard to believe at the time but now according to CDPR senior PR manager Ola Sondej, this is definitely not the case.
In an interview with The Verge, Sondej said, “Cyberpunk 2 isn’t the official title.
“‘Cyberpunk 2’ just means it’s another game in the Cyberpunk universe.”
We can imagine that the sequel will be named after the futuristic year that it is set in, much like the original, but with no confirmation from CD Projekt RED, fans have taken it upon themselves to make some educated guesses over on r/LowSodiumCyberpunk.

“They'll pull a Final Fantasy and name it Cyberpunk 2077-2 like FF X-2 and FF XIII-2,” user Cola_Conboy joked.
However, user thortmb had a very interesting take.
“I’m calling 2084 for the Orwell vibe,” they suggested.
Considering that much dystopian fiction has taken inspiration from George Orwell’s 1984, this would actually make a lot of sense, especially if the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel is set a few years after the events of the first game.

Other guesses are Cyberpunk 2099, Cyberpunk 2137, and many more but another user shared their thought process on a potential title.
“I think it would be reasonable to assume they'd call it Cyberpunk 2080 since from what we can gather it takes place in Chicago 2080.
The mainline titles have had the year in them (2013, 2020, 2077) and the spin-offs have always had different titles (RED, Edgerunners),” user ATdur wrote.
With the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel still in the early stages of development, it remains to be seen what its official title will be but let us just be glad it won’t simply be Cyberpunk 2.
