Following the success of 2020’s Cyberpunk 2077, it is no wonder that fans are eager for more of Night City and luckily, there is an exciting prequel on the way.
Despite its less-than-smooth launch back in 2020, it is safe to say that Cyberpunk 2077 has become a cultural phenomenon, going on to inspire a sequel, animated adaptation, comics and much more.
It is clear that the cyberpunk genre and the Night City setting has captured the hearts and imaginations of millions of players and, as a result, Cyberpunk 2077’s accompanying Netflix animated show was equally as successful.
Airing back in 2022 and running for just ten episodes, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners was set in the same world of Cyberpunk 2077 but following a different set of characters known as Edgerunners.

It was met with critical acclaim and despite originally being planned as just a standalone project, Netflix revealed that Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 was on the way back in July.
Once again, the sequel will be a standalone and feature a brand-new cast of characters but in the meantime, CD Projekt RED is not done with some of Edgerunner’s most beloved pair.
Set to release on 24 February 2026, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners MADNESS Volume 1 will be an action-packed manga, acting as a prequel to Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.
The synopsis reads as follows:

“Rebecca and her big brother Pilar pursue their dream of becoming a legendary edgerunner just like their father.
And in Night City, where violence, greed, and corruption run rampant, they’ll have to abandon who they once were and dive headlong into the mayhem, where they’ll struggle, suffer, and sow chaos everywhere they go!
But when a mysterious man appears, the trajectory of their future takes a turn. Witness pure madness as they rush through Night City to prove themselves as edgerunners!”
Written by Bartosz Sztybor, who also worked as the screenwriter for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, he will be joined by artist Asano, best known for their work on the manga adaptation of Studio Trigger’s BNA: Brand New Animal so it is safe to say that the prequel is in good hands.
