Call Of Duty 2022 has finally been announced, and it's a sequel to 2019's Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare. Try and act surprised, okay?

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (not to be confused with Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2) is being developed by Infinity Ward and will launch later this year. It's not like we've all known this for well over a year thanks to a multitude of the leakiest leaks, but it's nice to finally have official confirmation.

We'll be getting a proper look at the game in action in the next month or so. For now, you can take a look at the game's shiny new logo in the teaser trailer below. Exciting, I know.

According to previous leaks, which now look much more likely, Modern Warfare 2 will be set in Latin America and see players engage in an operation to take down a drug cartel. Infinity Ward is apparently looking to really push the boat out with its latest Call Of Duty campaign, in a story that could see characters live or die based on your choices.

It's also been suggested a remastered multiplayer mode for the original 2009 Modern Warfare 2 will launch as part of the 2022 Modern Warfare 2, just to keep things nice and confusing. In the same way 2019's Modern Warfare remastered classic maps and weapons from the original Modern Warfare, expect the likes of Rust and Terminal to end up in the 2022 shooter.

On top of a brand-new Modern Warfare, Activision is also building a sequel to Call Of Duty: Warzone from the ground up. Very little is known about the new battle royale at this point, but it sounds like the publisher wants to go bigger and better, with the new experience tying into Modern Warfare 2. In other words, expect it to start off semi-realistic before Godzilla stomps into the game a few years later.
