A sequel to Baldur’s Gate 3 is in the works, albeit not at Larian Studios.
Instead, HBO is in the midst of developing a TV series that will uniquely act as a continuation of the game.
Baldur’s Gate will be created in partnership with Hasbro Entertainment, with Craig Mazin of HBO’s The Last of Us fame serving as showrunner.
Mazin is due to create, write, and executive produce the project and while it’ll tell an original story, Mazin has outlined that he’s keen for familiar characters to appear - perhaps, in some instances, portrayed by their original actors.

GAMINGbible recently had the opportunity to attend the BAFTA Games Awards where we caught up with several members of the Baldur’s Gate 3 cast on the red carpet.
Of course, we were keen to discover whether they’d be down to return.
“I’ve actually prepared a statement because I knew this would be quite a serious question,” Samantha Béart told us who you’ll know as the performer behind fan-favourite Karlach.

“I know your audience is going to want to know. So, I actually know Craig Mazin because we met through BAFTA Breakthrough. This is the statement.
“Craig Mazin personally said to me his belief that the key cast of Baldur’s Gate 3 should be meaningfully on screen in the show either as someone familiar or someone new.”
Amid this, I should add, Samantha was reading her statement from a small white card that read, “Karlach Cliffgate pegged Craig Mazin and he loved it,” so there you have it.
Later on in the evening, we posed the same question to Tracy Wiles who portrayed Jaheira in Baldur’s Gate 3.

“Oh gosh. I saw a fan cast the other day with Meryl Streep [as Jaheira], and I thought I have no objections to that,” Tracy said.
“I've seen lots of interesting [takes]. I saw a Sarah Jessica Parker fan cast where they literally morphed her face [onto Jaheira], and I was like, yeah, I'm done for.
“It's hard, isn't it? Going from something that you're so connected to. I'm sure they'll do an amazing job. I'm excited. I'm excited for it to go into another [era]. I know a lot of people are dubious, but you got to give it a shot, haven't you?”
HBO’s Baldur’s Gate TV show remains in very early development so there is, at this moment in time, no confirmed casting, nor any inkling as to when this TV show may debut.
It would be lovely to see both Samantha and Tracy reprise their roles, with many of us also hoping to see the rest of the cast return, including the likes of Jennifer English, Neil Newbon, Devora Wilde and Amelia Tyler.
Only time will tell.
