Assassin's Creed meets Ghost Of Tsushima in gorgeous new open-world RPG

Who doesn’t love an open-world RPG? Who doesn’t love an open-world RPG inspired by Assassin’s Creed and Ghost of Tsushima? Exactly, nobody! Luckily there is just the game for you.

Debuted at TGS 2023, Where Winds Meet is a new martial arts adventure game that has been likened to Assassin’s Creed and Ghost of Tsushima. Developed by Chinese development studio, Everstone Games, the story is set in Ancient China and tells the story of a swordsman who must face difficult choices in order to meet his destiny.

IGN welcomed an eighteen-minute demo for Where Winds Meet back in September and we were able to get a sneak peek at character customisation, the diverse landscapes we will find ourselves in and of course, the ultimate boss fights.

Our hero is forged in a “time of chaos” and developers explain that players can "choose to be a doctor saving lives in the chaotic world, or a merchant accumulating wealth". From the very beginning, our choices will shape the story in a land of magic and mythical creatures.

The combat appears to consist of standard swordplay as well as the ability to wield magic as well as utilise stealth in tougher areas. Our swordsman will be able to navigate the rooftops to stay hidden and the world is as beautiful as games such as Ghost of Tsushima and Wo Long.

Not much else is known about the story other than that it will take place in a fantasy inspired Ancient China and it will be inspired by Assassin’s Creed by featuring real historical events tied in with the fantastical.

We are unsure when Where Winds Meet will be released but guess it to be sometime between late 2023 and early 2024. It has been announced for PC but we imagine a PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S release will follow shortly after.
