There is a whole lot of mystery surrounding Amazon Prime's new TV show based on the Middle-earth continent from The Lord Of The Rings. Even the title The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power, was kept under lock and key until just last month. This is despite the show being in production for around 18 months. What we do know is that the series is set in Middle-earth's second age, so a kind of prequel to the trilly's third.

If you fancy yourself a blast from the past, check out the 2009 trailer for The Lord Of The Rings Conquest.

The series will apparently release September this year and while we know snippets about the cast, the story is still shrouded in mystery. Lenny Henry, Robert Aramayo and Morfydd Clark are all involved though we don't know in which roles. What has been leaked is that the main antagonist and our favourite eye in the sky, Sauron won't be making an appearance, in hopes that fans will beg for more.

Amazon has revealed a slew of promotional posters giving us just a glimpse of the characters. If you're into hands then is there a treat for you. Yes the new images all centre around hands; grasped, clasped, balled and intertwined there's a hand for every taste. But wait there's more. Some of the hands are holding things; weapons, staffs, hammers, and scrolls. The costumes, props, and what little we know of the actors have had fans playing a fist form of glorious Guess Who.

One character which seems apparent from his jet black gauntlets and fancy sword is our potential Morgoth, Sauron's master. This god gone dark is the one who trained up bad boy Sauron to be the very naughty fella he was in The Lord Of The Rings films. With Amazon hinting that Morgoth will be in the new series it seems likely we might be getting a bit of a Sauron origin story.
