Acclaimed Simulation Game Is Free To Download And Keep Right Now

If city management is your thing, you won't want to miss this oldie but goodie

It's not every day that you can just freely download a game with an average score of 83/100, and then just, you know, keep it forever.

However, today is such a day - and giving away games for free is sort of Epic Games' thing these days. Not one to be outdone by the other competing online store fronts, including Steam, the Epic Games Store is consistently giving away free games. Last month we got Galactic Civilizations III, and over the holiday period it gave out a free game every day, for 15 days. Including some which came out that year. Fresh, and free? Astonishing stuff.

This week's free game on the Epic Games Store is Cities: Skylines, the city building simulator with so many updates and expansions that it still has a thriving community seven years after its original launch.

If you want to take a look at Cities: Skylines before you grab it for nowt, check out the trailer below...

Cities: Skylines describes its gameplay as: "Constructing your city from the ground up is easy to learn, but hard to master. Playing as the mayor of your city you’ll be faced with balancing essential requirements such as education, water, electricity, police, fire fighting, healthcare and much more along with your city's real economy system. Citizens within your city react fluidly, with gravitas and with an air of authenticity to a multitude of game play scenarios."

It's free to download right now (11 March) from the Epic Games Store and it's then yours to keep forever, no strings attached. Don't worry if you don't have time today - the download period continues until 17 March so you've still got a bit of time to give it a try.

If you like it there is also a dizzying 38 different expansion packs for you to try. All of them are sold separately, but the vast majority are reduced right now with up to 50% off. There are even a couple for free as well, should the base 0.game be doing it for you. And when it's free, really, what have you got to lose in giving it a go?
