If you're worried about 007 First Light being a short game, you don't need to be too anxious about it.

For those who enjoy playing in-depth singleplayer games, the upcoming 007 First Light may keep you busy for a while.

IO Interactive is no stranger to making long games with plenty of replayability, but with 007 First Light seemingly taking some notes from the Uncharted series, some fans were concerned that the upcoming James Bond game may be a little light on content.

Fortunately, it seems that 007 First Light may actually have the opposite effect, with it supposedly taking longer than games like Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and The Last of Us.

How Long Does It Take To Beat 007 First Light?

As reported by YouTuber JorRaptor (via Insider Gaming), who has spoken to several IO Interactive employees, the general consensus is that 007 First Light will take you around 20 hours to complete your first playthrough.

Indeed, in my own preview of the game, I estimated there are around 15 missions in the full game based on context clues regarding story progression that popped up while I was playing.

It also may depend on your level of skill while playing the game. Those who are familiar with action games like Uncharted may be able to clear it quicker, while less experienced players may take longer.

Speaking of Uncharted, it takes the average player around 15 hours to complete Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End according to How Long To Beat, actually making it a shorter game than 007 First Light.

This is only counting the story missions though, and not the various ways 007 First Light will have replayable content.

As anyone who’s played Hitman: World of Assassination will know, IO Interactive has a knack for creating repeatable content that keeps you coming back for more. Just ask my 2,078 hours in Hitman 3.

In Hitman, this was through bonus levels like contracts, escalations, and the Freelancer roguelike game mode, as well as challenges and elusive targets, which significantly added a lot more game time alongside the time it took you to beat the main story.

For 007 First Light, we know there’ll be multiple routes through most of the levels, giving you a reason to replay them.

For example, the preview build I played had you finding a way to get into a CCTV room which was locked down with a bunch of guards. You can do this either by sneaking or fighting your way in, or by using Bond’s various gadgets or bluffing skills to gain entry. Altogether, there were around 3–4 different methods to achieving this, and it’s incredibly likely this will be the case for all the other missions.

There’s also the bonus Tactical Simulation mode. IO Interactive hasn’t detailed a lot about how this mode will work, but we’re told that it should offer a huge amount of replayability beyond what you can do during the story missions.

What we do know is it allows you to repeat certain levels of the game with new modifiers, different enemy placements, and other challenges to have you tackle it in new ways.
