Free Games Roundup: Lose Yourself In Some Amazing RPGs

Worlds within worlds.

Hey there, guys. It's me. Back once again with a roundup of all the best free games you can get your hands on this weekend. I'll be honest, I'm not really sure why I'm bothering this week. I mean, most of you are gonna be playing The Last Of Us Part II, right? I know that's where I'll be.

Still, for the minority among you who aren't planning on partaking in the grim Naughty Dog sequel, there are actually some pretty awesome freebies this week. If you're into RPGs, we've got a few things you might be interested. Walk this way...

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt /
CD Projekt Red, Bandai Namco

Assassin's Creed Origins and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt are both free to download and play this weekend, although both come with their own caveats.

If you fancy indulging in the Egyptian adventures of Origins, you can head here and follow the instructions to download. Just be aware that this offer is only available for PC, and that you'll only have free access to the game between June 19th and the 21st. You can start downloading the game right now though, and if you choose to purchase the title when you're done, all progress will carry over.

Ubisoft, as usual, also has a few other free games and trials on offer. You can check them all out here, but there's nothing else quite as substantial as Assassin's Creed Origins. Unless you count Might & Magic Chess Royale, I guess.

As for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt? That's a bit of a cheeky one, to be honest. You can claim a free copy of the game for PC via GOG Galaxy 2.0... but you already need to own the RPG on either PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. Kind of a bummer, but the PC version comes with its own advantages, such as mods. Oh, and all your progress from your console save will carry over, which is neat.

The Epic Games Store is also offering two excellent strategy games for free this week. Pathway is a pretty cool XCOM-style game that sees you breaking into tombs and fighting cultists, Nazis, and other disgusting monsters. The Escapists 2, meanwhile, is a highly entertaining strategy title that lets you live out the dream of... planning an escape from prison.

Finally, there's a freebie for Nintendo Switch, which happens... never. Jump Rope Challenge actually looks pretty fun. You use the Joy-Cons and pretend that you're using an actual jump rope. Yes, you could just use an actual jump rope if you wanted to, but the weather sucks right now and this is free.

That's it for all the big new additions this week. As usual, GOG, is still giving away a collection of 27 classic PC games for free, so go take a look at that.

I'd also like to remind you that anyone who signs up for Google Stadia right now gets two free months of Stadia Pro. This means access to games like Destiny 2, Grid, and Zombie Army 4: Dead War.

And of course, don't forget about free battle royale games like Warzone and Fortnite, as well as other subscription services like Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Now. And if you want to read up on classic Flash games, open-world epics, story-driven games, relaxing games, or even games to play with your kids, then we have you covered.

Have a great weekend, and remember that every day is one step closer to this being over. Oh, and do feel free to let us know, on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, what you're playing this weekend.
