The recently released trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home has led to a flood of Spidey-related nostalgia, and I'm fully here for it.
The first sneak-peek for the upcoming Tom Holland film confirms what we'd already heard: that the webhead will be facing a number of villains from his past, including Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin and Alfred Molina's Doctor Octopus.

The appearance of Molina's many-limbed supervillain in particular has got people remembering just how special Spider-Man 2 was. Sam Raimi's 2004 sequel is still regarded by many as the best big screen Spider-Man adventure, and one of the finest superhero movies ever made. No doubt a lot of this love comes down to the warm nostalgic glow we feel whenever we remember seeing Spider-Man 2 for the first time as kids... but I maintain that the movie totally still holds up today.

If you need any proof, just take a look at the iconic Spider-Man/Doctor Octopus train brawl below. As shared by Daniel Barnes on Twitter, they argue that the high-speed punch-up remains unmatched by any other piece of Spider-Man media in the last 17 years. Watching it again, I find it incredibly hard to disagree.
The speed and fluidity with which Spidey and Ock knock several shades of crap out of each other across New York is a sight to behold, and I quite honestly wasn't expecting it to still look as good as it does. The city isn't just a backdrop for a generic CG punchup, it's part of the fight as the villain rips off chunks of buildings and tosses Spider-Man throw train windows like a ragdoll. I'd also like to point out this fight scene is probably the millionth in cinema to take place on a speeding train... but it's the first time the two fighting have been able to stick to the sides of said train and carry on punching one another.

There's an actual element of tangible danger, too. We know Ock isn't going to murder our hero here, but watching Peter juggle fighting an enemy he has no idea how to properly fight while also ensuring the safety of a train full of people is on another level. And of course, to cap it all off we get to see Tobey Maguire's inherently decent, vulnerable take on the wallcrawler at his very best as he gives everything he has to stop the train from thundering off the tracks, killing everyone.
"Carefully, he's a hero." You know it, random New Yorker.
Spider-Man 2 slaps, y'all. Go re-watch it.
