A New 'Banjo-Kazooie' Could Come to Xbox Series X If Rare Wants It

Rare just need to say the magic words and Banjo-Kazooie could be back.

Banjo and Kazooie, one of the best gaming duos of all time, may make a reappearance on the Xbox Series consoles - all it takes is Rare to want a sequel. Since Microsoft's acquisition of the studio , there have been questions of who has the first say to start production on another Banjoo-Kazooie game, and according to Phil Spencer, it's up to Rare.

In an interview, Spencer did with Kotaku about all things Xbox, he says that he will "leave it up to the studios in terms of the things that they want to go work on. I have a lot of respect for Rare and the work that they do. They do like building new things, and they've seen success with Sea of Thieves."

As well as continuing development on its online co-op game Sea of Thieves, Rare is working on a new fantasy game called Everwild which they will be focussing on in the near future. Spencer says that it's a mix for Xbox and its partner studios when deciding what properties to pursue sequels with, when they should revisit older IPs, and when they think they should make something completely new. "I think it's just always a balance. My inbox is full of: 'Let every studio do new [intellectual property].' And also: 'Why have you brought back Crimson Skies and Blinx?"

This also means that if one is ever made there is a pretty high likelihood we would see the game on the Nintendo Switch too. Banjo-Kazooie's most recent appearance has actually been on Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as fighters, but Xbox has steadily been bringing games from its platforms and Games Pass to Nintendo Switch. Hopefully, Nintendo and Xbox will work something out if ever a new game is released.
