The Witcher 3 fans stunned by hidden world the devs didn’t want us to find

The Witcher 3 fans stunned by hidden world the devs didn’t want us to find

This is unworldly (kinda)

Nearly 10 years after it graced us with its presence, fans are stunned by a new world that has been discovered in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, something that we’re seemingly not supposed to see.

CD Projekt RED’s The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was originally released in 2015 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, before being magically ported to the Nintendo Switch four years later.

Check out The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt trailer below!

“You are Geralt of Rivia, a mercenary monster slayer. Before you stand a war-torn, monster-infested continent you can explore at will,” reads the synopsis of the critically acclaimed RPG developed by CDPR. “Your current contract? Tracking down Ciri — the Child of Prophecy, a living weapon that can alter the shape of the world.”

In 2022, we were treated to a free new-gen update of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, which also came with additional new content, some of which was inspired by the Netflix live-action adaptation.

As well as featuring an immersive story that will keep you hooked from start to finish, the open world of the Continent is packed full of epic side-quests, interesting NPCs, and deadly monsters and to top it all off, it looks absolutely gorgeous too.

What’s more, it’s also crammed full of secrets waiting to be discovered, such as the one noticed by Reddit user seagullspokeyourknee.

“While free roaming as Ciri outside the Velen world border, (which can be done rather easily without any mods), I stumbled across a zone where the sky turns red and the trees turn black,” they announced on the thread.

“There are no items to loot, but you can explore every corner of it at your leisure once you find a way over the invisible wall near the northeast side,” they concluded.

However, there is an explanation as to how this Reddit user discovered this area that CDPR seemingly did not want us to see and it’s down to playing as Ciri, and the mission ‘Ciri’s Story: Out of The Shadows’.

Seagullspokeyourknee explains that there’s a point in this mission when playing as Ciri that you can run off and climb over a tower, which triggers a free-roaming glitch, if you will.

As you’re not supposed to play as Ciri like this in that section of the game, she is unaffected by the world border, as such, she can pretty much go anywhere until she falls through the map.

So, there you have it, that’s how you can find a secret area in the game. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is out now on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
