There is just over a month to go until season five of Stranger Things finally premiers on Netflix and several of its official episode runtimes have finally been revealed.
It has been a long time coming but the fifth and final season of Netflix’s hit show Stranger Things is finally set to air to close up 2025.
Beginning way back in 2016, it is almost a decade since we first headed to 1980s Indiana to watch a group of friends witness both supernatural forces and a mysterious government sect.
Now, despite the world’s longest wait, its final season is almost upon us and to celebrate its upcoming release, we finally have confirmation of the runtimes of the season's opening episodes.

This confirmation comes courtesy of Ross Duffer, one-half of the Duffer brother directing duo alongside Matt Duffer, who took to Instagram to reveal the length of the first four episodes for the final season.
The episodes and their runtimes are as follows:
- Episode One “The Crawl” - 1 hour and 8 minutes
- Episode Two (Untitled) - 54 minutes
- Episode Three “The Turnbow Trap” - 1 hour and 6 minutes
- Episode Four “Sorcerer” - 1 hour and 23 minutes
With various media sources claiming that each episode of season five’s The Stranger Things could vary “from 90 minutes to two hours long”, this new information disputes it, although later episodes could certainly grow in length.

When season one of Stranger Things aired back in 2016, many of its episodes ranged from around a one hour runtime to slightly more, however, this was soon extended with the arrival of season four.
It seems as though season five will continue this tradition but don’t worry, you will not have to sit through two-hour episodes any time soon - in the first batch of episodes, at least.
In typical Netflix fashion, Stranger Things season five will be split into three parts with the first batch of episodes set to be added to the service on 26 November.
After that, fans can expect the next three episodes on Christmas, with the finale “The Rightside Up” finishing off things with a New Years Eve launch.

So if you want to spend your holiday period with one of Netflix’s most successful shows, you just so happen to be in luck.
With the full cast set to return, it will be the end of an era but let us just hope that the wait for season five of Stranger Things has been worth it and it goes out with a bang.
