Star Wars 'darkest secret' will change how you see the Prequels forever

Oh, this is bleak

There are some dark moments in the Star Wars history, many of which occur within the prequels, but one takes the cake.

The Sith are hell-bent on keeping the galaxy under their control and will stop at nothing to see plans become reality, even if that means wiping out entire species.

In order to get to one of the darkest secrets of the Sith, we need a little back-story, because with that, it sounds like a war crime.

A species called the Geonosians are a winged, bug-like species, responsible for creating the plans for the original Death Star.

That massive, hulking space station was built in orbit of Geonosis, and they refined the superlaser, making it capable of decimating planets.

The Sith, and the Empire, saw the species as nothing more than servants, and considering them beneath sentient life.

Despite them being some of the most creative and brilliant minds in the galaxy, the Empire saw them as nothing but a threat.

It’s revealed, and reported over on Reddit to other fans, that after the construction of the Death Star, the Empire sterilised every queen on Geonosis using poisonous gas, in order to stop them breeding.

This act wiped out all 100 billion Geonosians, simply to stop word getting out about the Death Star.

A genocide that meant “Geonosis may never rebuild,” informs HeftyFail2726 within a Reddit thread.

“Jesus, that's dark even for Star Wars,” replies Rapturesjoy.

DrunkenGrognard expands on this horror, explaining, “the last Geonosian queen was named Karina, and she was so mentally distraught that she would be the last of her kind, and that she could never reproduce, that she had a Battle Droid factory installed where her womb was.”

That’s beyond dark.

Star Wars Rebels, the brilliant animated show, goes into this story in much more detail, with one last surviving Geonosian being discovered to tell the story.
