It’s difficult being a Star Wars fan, not because the quality of entertainment has dropped - I’d argue we’re at a great point for creators - but because Disney keep promising new projects and then shelving them.

After the disastrous Episode IX came out, Disney commented they’d be taking some time away from making Star Wars films, and that didn’t last long.

They soon announced more spin-offs, a new trilogy being written, and a focus on Rey setting up a new Jedi order.

Well, according to one rumour, it seems that Rey follow-up has been put on hold, and fans are fed up.

This is apparently happening to bring forward new films by Shawn Levy and James Mangold.

“Star Wars is cursed. Disney needs to fire everyone at the top and start fresh,” commented Raoul_Duke9 over on Reddit.

That may be a bit harsh, the reason for the hold is likely due to the less than lukewarm reception to Rey and her story.

“There's just not that much interest in Rey's movie, and this is why they don't know what to do with it,” said the creator of the thread that reported the news.

Another fan jumped in to say, “I don’t want a Rey movie. Nothing against the actor or character, both are great. Star Wars just literally needs to “reboot” and go like 200 years into the future and just make something completely f**king new.”

It does feel like Disney isn’t sure what to do with this huge galaxy aside from pander to nostalgia, then when they finally read the room they cancel projects.

“If I had a nickel for every time they delayed or cancelled a Star Wars movie, I'd have a lot of nickels,” replied eagleblue44.

We’ll leave the last word to Top_Cowboy who said, “I won’t believe any of those movies are going to be made until the cameras roll.”
