The joy of Pokémon has been perfectly captured in this surprise new release.

Pokémon fans hadn’t been expecting anything new, and definitely not one that harks back to Gen 1.

Yet, to celebrate the Year of the Snake, the official Pokémon YouTube channel revealed a short but incredibly sweet film.

Arbo of Different Colors follows a group of Ekans as they spy an unusual coloured Ekans; unlike them, this ‘mon is green.

To us, the experienced audience of trainers, we immediately understand that this is a Shiny Pokémon, but the other Ekans are unaware of this.

Even though the group accept this unique Ekans, the special ‘mon finds itself placed in a potentially stressful situation after it falls out of a tree and crosses paths with a group of Arboks.

While they don’t harm Ekans, the stress of a possible fight triggers its evolution into Shiny Arbok.

The dazzling lights of its transformation can be seen from miles away, as witnessed by a Serperior viewing the event from afar.

Once changed, Arbok joins the other Arboks and they slither away happily.

Enjoy the beauty of Arbo of Different Colors

As we previously said, it’s a short film, but it's one that will warm your heart and remind you why our love for Pokémon is still so strong all these years later.

Fans can’t get enough of this release, as you can see from the long list of comments beneath the video.

All comments shared in this article have been translated from Japanese to English.

“I personally fell in love with Arbok after I had a spontaneous encounter with one of a different colour, so I personally feel very emotional about it,” posted one user.

Another fan said, “Thank you...Thank you...Even though it's the Year of the Snake, I never expected that a special animation would be made...Thank you Pokémon official.”

The Year of the Snake is associated with resilience, which we can all agree the Shiny Ekans demonstrated.

May we all be as resilient, and transform into someone confident in their own skin.
