With the news that Amazon had taken full creative control of the 007 franchise, fans were understandably worried at what the future looked like for James Bond.

After Amazon acquired MGM back in 2022, the acquisition did not initially give the company creative control over its 007 franchise.

However, this was soon changed when Amazon’s MGM Studios gained the rights from long-term producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson.

As a result, the 007 franchise may take a very different turn in the future and it is something that fans are feeling hesitant about.

Not only that but despite the fact that Daniel Craig stepped down as Bond back in 2021, we are yet to receive confirmation as to who will succeed him.

There have been countless rumours over the years ranging from Idris Elba to Aaron Taylor-Johnson, but a recent report reveals that Amazon is considering a brand-new name to take on the role of the next James Bond.

If the rumour is true, Aaron Pierre will be our very next 007.

Best known for his roles in The Underground Railroad, Genius and even as the voice for Mufasa in 2024’s Mufasa: The Lion King, this will be a huge opportunity for the actor.

However, fans are feeling torn and they took to r/LeaksAndRumors to share their thoughts.

“I don’t believe this to be honest,” the top comment by user monitoring27 reads.

“If Lanterns [an upcoming TV series] does well, it seems likely he’ll be locked into a major franchise role for a while. I think Amazon would much rather try and find someone who’s not attached to any other ongoing franchise or character.”

“Do that, and it's dead in the water,” another user said simply.

Of course, this is merely a rumour and Pierre may just join the long list of actors whose name gets thrown into the hat every month.

Only time will tell.
