In a recent Variety interview, Todd Gilchrist spoke with both Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen regarding Ewan’s future roles and his upcoming spot on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Or in other words, Star Wars stars talk stars.

During the interview, McGregor told Variety about how much he enjoyed rewatching Alec Guiness films in preparation for his take on Obi-Wan Kenobi, even though he found taking the role on to be extremely daunting.

“I had to switch something off in my head to be able to cope with the bigness of all that and just get on with it…” he said, “...Even now with the series, that’s my personal challenge — if a take feels a bit like him, I’m happy.”

“I really do hope we get a chance to do another one,” he continued.

“Between where we ended off in the series and when Alec Guinness comes on screen with Luke Skywalker, I think there’s another few stories to tell in there.”

Christensen, who will be the one presenting McGregor with his upcoming star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, is equally excited for him to come back to the role.

“If it means that I got to do more with Ewan,” Christensen told Variety, “then that’s a no-brainer, but I really hope that he continues with the character… Just as a fan, it’s so exciting to get to watch him play Obi-Wan — he’s just so good at it.”

Of course, this is all just wishful thinking from two big Star Wars fanboys, as nothing has been confirmed as of yet.

McGregor did reprise his role as Obi-Wan in the 2022 TV miniseries Kenobi alongside Christensen, who also reprised his role as Anakin Skywalker again in 2023’s Ashoka, so nothing is out of the question - even if the critical reception of both shows was mixed.

Disney would likely be thrilled to get both of the actors back for another go, given how popular the two actors are with fans of the prequel films, so we’ll likely see them again in the not so distant future.
