Since December, with the release of No Way Home, the internet has been in a bit of a Spider-Man frenzy. And rightfully so, of course - for the most part, fans were super happy with the movie - our very own Ewan Moore described it as “the cinematic equivalent of a hyperactive kid tipping all their action figures onto the bed and smashing them together for a few hours” (check out his review here).
But, as the hype for one thing begins to fade, it raises that all important question - what happens next? We do already know that No Way Home isn’t Tom Holland’s final outing as Spider-Man, in fact, at least three more movies have been confirmed. But what they’ll consist of is yet another matter, and it sounds like Holland has some interesting ideas for them himself, specifically regarding crossovers.
While you're here, be sure to check out our interview with Tom Holland below.
It turns out that the latest Spidey star and Florence Pugh, aka Black Widow’s Yelena Belova, have been chatting about the potential of bringing their characters together in a future collaboration. As reported by ComicBook, speaking on the Zoe Ball Breakfast Show yesterday, Holland said: “[A Spider-Man and Black Widow II crossover] hasn't been suggested to the big bosses yet, but Florence and I have definitely spoken about it, and hopefully one day we can make that happen. That would be very cool.”
Pugh’s character has quickly risen to popularity in recent months, first appearing alongside Scarlet Johansson in Black Widow, and since starring in the Disney+ show, Hawkeye. Although in the latter she only starred in two episodes, by many fans, these appearances were thought to be some of the best parts in the series.
Despite being an up-and-coming fan favourite MCU character, though, it’s undeniable that Yelena Belova is slightly obscure, and so this might not be the crossover everyone would be hoping for. If you just want more Tom Holland on your screen, though, there’s also Uncharted releasing in cinemas very soon - 11 February in the UK, to be exact. So, get ready for that.
