Although The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is talked about more, Oblivion still has a dedicated legion of fans and this brand-new expansion is the perfect excuse to dive back into the classic title.

Citadel of Madness is a free-to-download mod by Lariatius over on Nexus Mods and aims to add a whole new story to Oblivion.

The official synopsis reads: “The mad engineer Hugo Terentius, over 20 years of construction, erected a huge Citadel on an island covered in ruins.

Using the power of the great Sigil stone, with the blessing of Lord Sheogorath, the island and the fortress flew into the sky.

And now the Citadel of Madness soars in the skies above the Shivering Isles.”

The mod not only features a floating island Citadel but it is a Citadel you need to defend as invaders have arrived to take over the impressive feat of architecture and technology.

Citadel of Madness features a brand-new quest line featuring 38 new quests consisting of 23 main quests and 15 side quests.

It also includes a whole new area to explore complete with hundreds of new characters, more than 3000 lines of dialogue and 25+ hours of gameplay.

With powerful new opponents and bosses to defeat, you can use new weapons and armour to aid in your battles and not to mention the new gaming faction with its own career ladder you can join.

Finishing off with new music and sounds, new in-game literature, over 180 new interiors and new game territories, Citadel of Madness is the Oblivion expansion we never knew we needed.
