The Elder Scrolls 6 can wait, we're getting a long-rumoured remake in 2025

It is no secret that 2024 has been another jam-packed year for gaming and it already seems as though 2025 will be bigger and better still.

With titles such as Grand Theft Auto VI, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Monster Hunter Wilds and Ghost of Yōtei expected to be released throughout the new year, it seems another highly-requested title is also on the way.

Check out the original trailer for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion below!

Yes, you heard me correctly.

First released back in 2006 and acting as a prequel to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Oblivion is many fan’s highlight of the Bethesda series so it is no wonder that the hype is building for a potential remake/remaster.

The news was leaked by Extas1s who claims that not only is the remake/remaster a definite 2025 release but it could also be announced as early as the next Xbox Developer Direct.

Not only that but they go on to claim that The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion could also be released that same year, i.e, 2025.

This would add up with a previous Oblivion rumour that claimed the highly-anticipated remake could have developers Virtuos behind it as well as being made using Unreal Engine 5.

With Oblivion first released in 2006, it is safe to say that graphics have come a long way so we will finally get to experience the Bethesda classic in all of its intended glory.

However, as this is still just a leak as of now, it is worth taking the news with a pinch of salt.

With the next Xbox Developer Direct expected to air in early 2025, we won’t have long to find out.

Until then, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Xbox 360 version is currently available to play on the Microsoft storefront as well as being free for Xbox Game Pass members.

This comes as part of Microsoft’s plans to introduce backwards compatibility to some major classics.
