Actress Nicki Aycox has sadly passed away at the age of 47, her sister-in-law Susan Raab Ceklosky has confirmed. Aycox was perhaps best known by fans for portraying Meg Masters in Supernatural.
A cause of death has not yet been confirmed, but Aycox was diagnosed with leukemia in 2020. The actress first appeared as Meg Masters in Supernatural’s first season in 2006. ‘Meg’ was actually a demon and loyal follower of Lucifer, named after the woman whose body it inhabited. Aycox rejoined Supernatural in 2008 after Meg was brought back for a recurring stint in season four.
The actress's other acting credits include The X-Files, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Criminal Minds, Law & order and Dark Blue. Aycox stepped back from acting in 2014 and established a healthy eating and vegan lifestyle website called Cashews and Olives.

Announcing the news of Aycox’s untimely death, sister-in-law Ceklosky wrote, “My beautiful, smart, fierce, incredibly talented and loving sister-in-law, Nicki Aycox Raab, passed away yesterday with my brother, Matt Raab, by her side. Nicki and Matt had a wonderful life together in California. She was definitely a fighter and everyone who knew her loved her.”
Colleagues and friends of Aycox have begun to pay tribute. Supernatural creator Eric Kripke tweeted, “Gutted to hear the great Nicki Aycox, our first Meg Masters, passed away. Too young. She was a delight & delivered lines like honey & venom. I marvel at how she made a simple word like ‘lacklustre’ legendary.”
Actress Samantha Ferris, who appeared as Ellen Harvelle on Supernatural, wrote, “Sad news for the Supernatural family. It appears Nicki Aycox (Meg Masters) has moved on to the next dimension. She was the original SPN badass. Safe travels, Nicki. I hear the next stop is fabulous. See you there.”
