Star Wars fans have something new to look forward to, and the project is taking us back to before The Phantom Menace.

Not only that, but a fan-favourite character will be returning, one we’ve not seen since that same Star Wars film.

Sebulba first appeared in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace

Sebulba, the pod-racing ace who went up against Anakin Skywalker, will be making a return in Star Wars: Beyond Victory, a new mixed-reality experience for Meta Quest 3 and 3S headsets.

In the film, Anakin left Subulba in the dust and won the race, impressing millions and becoming a Jedi apprentice.

This new experience will take fans into a new story, working alongside Sebulba.

Star Wars blog states the new project will introduce us to Volo Bolus, “as they join forces with the legendary podracer pilot Sebulba in this heart-pumping and engine-thrumping mixed reality experience.”

Can we call this a game, really? This experience is in development at Industrial Light and Magic, alongside Lucasfilm, and will be available for fans to try out at the Star Wars Experience in Japan next month.

Sebulba has appeared in several comics since losing the race to Anakin, and he also popped up in The Clone Wars TV show.

This will be the first time fans get a look at him since then, and he’ll be a big part of the story in Star Wars: Beyond Victory.

Marvel will be producing a new comic to release alongside the experience, giving even more backstory to the events.

Star Wars is no stranger to virtual reality experiences, and players have been able to play as Darth Vader in Vader Immortal, and explore the galaxy in Tales From the Galaxy’s Edge.

If this new experience puts viewers in the pod-racing seat, you might want to bring a sick bag, just in case.
