Star Wars just introduced its own horrifying version of the devil

Will you dance with the devil?

Star Wars is branching out into new stories all the time, and fans know that there’s a wealth of tales beyond the films and TV shows currently produced by Disney.

Usually, Marvel Comics would oversee a great many of these projects, giving writers and artists a chance to explore new and old characters alike.

New Star Wars projects are coming to us over the next year

This new comic book outing, however, has gone to Dark Horse, who used to publish many of the best side stories.

Reported on Twitter by Star Wars Holocron, it’s said that Star Wars: TALES FROM THE NIGHTLANDS, will be a new darker direction for the franchise, and focus on three generations of characters who will have to combat darker forces than the Sith.

These characters will face off against The Nightlander, Star Wars’ version of the Boogeyman, or a devil-like entity.

The first issue debuts 3 September 2025, and features Anakin, Obi-Wan, Luke, Leia, Finn, and Rey in the comic written by Cavan Scott.

It’s a strange twist to have Dark Horse oversee this story, and it’s led fans to wonder if any of the events within will be considered canon.

One fan notes, “I’m assuming this isn't canon due to it being published by Dark Horse? Regardless, I’m excited to read this!”

Another fan calls back to an older Star Wars quote, saying, “It was known by the ancients that a Dark Lord with three eyes has a secret strength possessed by none other.”

This “Dark Lord” was once supposed to be Darth Millennial, a three-eyed mutant Sith lord who has heir to Darth Bane, who lived around 1,000 years before the Battle of Yavin.

Perhaps this Sith Lord didn’t die, and has been waiting in the shadows, weaving his way in and out of the lives of those characters most important to us.

All will be revealed as the Star Wars boogeyman appears in September.
